I originally purchased this kit for a second 3d printer that I am currently putting together. I had hooked everything up and tested the controller. Everything was working very well. Then I acquired another printer. I realize that yes, I probably DO need 3 printers, but more rational heads have prevailed and instead, this will soon become the controller for an extruder to convert my failed prints and extra bits of filament into new rolls of acceptable-grade printer filament.
I like that this kit has everything you need for the controller end of things, even the jumpers for the ramps boards. And if you are going to have a display, you might as well have a nice big display instead of a two-line deal. Overall, I am very happy with the operation I saw when I was putting together my printer, and so far, it looks to be promising for controlling the filament extruder.

I'm building a reprap Prusa i3 (actually a P3Steel which is a variant) and needed some electronics. Ramps 1.4 is ubiquitous. It's just what you use. This electronics package seemed to have everything I needed so I gave it a shot. I haven't actually build the printer yet so there is no testing of heated bed, etc. However, having put it through some paces with testing after hooking it up to a few steppers and making sure everything worked it passed all tests, so no complaints. This is a fully functional purchase for me and it functions well.

it's functional and at a reasonable price. All the components function as they should,Makes life so much easier for printing.

This is my 3rd RAMPS set. RAMPS aren't known for high quality and this isn't exactly stellar...but out of the 3 I've used this one is the nicest. The first one that came with my printer had soldering issues, the 2nd I bought on ebay from China was soldered better but had some broken jumpers and bent pins.

This one came with the longest cables for the LCD out of the 3 I've used - not a big deal but nice as it gives more mounting options. It also came with more jumpers than needed (and none were damaged.) The soldering was still not great but totally acceptable. The RAMPS board even included a header on the 12v aux header which I had to add manually on my other two - nice touch! It would be nice to have DRV8825's (which I prefer) instead of the A4988 drivers but for the price I'm not going to complain. The arduino mega is of course a clone but works just fine and an official "genduino" would cost more than this full set.
