I bought this for my teenage son, who has been interested in electronics for a while, but never worked with a kit before. He was absolutely thrilled with it, and it absorbed him for hours the first time he used it. He has been tinkering around with it in almost all his spare time since then, and learned very quickly how to do many different things, little of which I totally understand, but that's OK. I would buy more products from Kuman, that's for sure.

I am a teacher at a rural junior / senior high school. I run a robotics program, but between competitive seasons, I was looking for something for a few of my students to try out. I saw this kit, and thought that it would be a great addition to my program! I showed it to my students, and they were super excited for me to order it. We also shopped around and looked at all the different components we would later be able to add to our kits. It seems like the possibilities are endless!

When the kit arrived, I handed it over to a group of four 8th grade girls. This was intended to be a self-directed learning activity - and so far it's working very well! When you give kids the opportunity to figure things out, experiment, take risks, and direct their own learning, they are so much more engaged, and learn at a deeper level!

We also brought in two Raspberry Pi kits, and students seem to be enjoying this kit more, due to the sheer number of "goodies" that came in this kit.

I've had the kit for a little over a week, and the students have completed four different projects builds. I have enjoyed watching them research and figure out how to make everything work. They did have some difficulty getting started, because they weren't really sure what the first thing should be to get going. But being resourceful kids, they went online and started looking up projects and videos and ideas for this kit. They found lots of ideas, but then had to narrow it down to beginner level projects. It didn't take them long to figure out the programming requirements, and then they were up and running!

I got this for my husband because my little boy has shown a lot of interest in electronics and wants to start learning more. As a computer engineer, my husband is qualified to do this sort of thing with him while I am definitely not. We actually purchased two beginner sets, but my husband found that he liked different parts of each and couldn't recommend one over the other.

This kit is nicely packaged and organized in a double-decker plastic box with a small tray that lifts out and clasps to secure the box. The breadboard is a genuine Arduino UNO R3. The kit is large and full-featured with many nice parts included a 1602 LCD display. The LCD display comes with pins for connecting the component to a breadboard, but it is not soldered. We found that this was a bit inconvenient for those who want a plug & play experience.

The only component that my husband really missed from this kit was an LED matrix. They may want to consider adding one and pre-soldering the pins on the LCD display. Also, if you want to experiment with larger projects then you will probably want to add another breadboard. This one works well but is on the smaller side.

Someone with basic familiarity with electronics shouldn't find it too difficult to get started with Arduino using the samples on Arduino's website as a guide. You also get samples when you download the tools needed for your computer. Experience with C or C-like language will make it much easier to write custom code for the microcontroller.
